About Paul White
Paul is a child therapist. He is uniquely qualified to bring CLAYtherapy to his peers and clients. From his early beginnings as a leader of VISTA Volunteers on three Native American reservations in the southwest, his focus was children. His Tulane University graduate courses, field placements and thesis research were directed at his primary goal, face-to-face interaction with children. Employment following graduate school was with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. This was followed by the Department of Mental Health and the University of Illinois Division of Services to Crippled Children. These experiences set his course more firmly in the service of children. From the Winnebago County Juvenile Court he went on to develop a full-time private practice working directly with children, fulfilling contracts with child-centered agencies, and consulting public and private agencies.
During his many years of direct work with children he developed numerous unique aids and techniques that assisted him in teaching children to cope with stress and to solve problems. Two of these found their way into publication: the first, a cassette tape and manual for group therapists entitled Sebastian and the Anger Dial and the second, TAWK: Talk Alcohol With Kids, a children's board game. CLAYtherapy is now available after ten years of trial and error, use, development and refinement. It contains techniques born from face-to-face interaction with real kids experiencing real problems. It's packed with methods and techniques to enhance treatment and provide a different approach to therapy with kids. CLAYtherapy will find a home in every counselor's therapeutic skills toolbox. Paul lives in Rockford and has three adult children. He continues to provide direct and consultative services internationally. His workshops, teaching CLAYtherapy specifically, and Play Therapy techniques in general, provide other therapists the opportunity to learn his unique methods of intervention with children. Check out the seminars and keynote page for information about how to book Paul for a seminar. |
